She usually reserves her incredible dance moves for the stage and screen.

But pop star Shakira put on an impromptu show yesterday as she visited a school in earthquake-stricken Haiti.

The Colombian singer sang and danced with students to celebrate the forthcoming renovation of an historic Haitian school which was ravaged by the devastating 2010 earthquake.

The stunning 34-year-old moved to the beat of her song Waka Waka – This Time for Africa, alongside the students from the the Elie Dubois high school in downtown Port-au-Prince.

Dressed in a simple black t-shirt and jeans, the Grammy-winning artist was all smiles throughout the day.

And there was every reason for mass celebration.

Shakira announced that her Barefoot Foundation, which helps 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 victims of violence and disasters, along with the Inter-American Development Bank would each be donating $400,000 to restore the high school.

During her charitable day out, Shakira was greeted with fanfare by students and nuns, who were thrilled to meet the singer.

Showering her with cuddles and gifts, they showed their appreciation for her incredible efforts.

‘It’s so nice that we have a star coming and that she’s coming to help the school,’ said Joselourdes Jean-Paul, a 19-year-old student. ‘With the new school, we’re going to learn more and learn better.

Shakira said she believed that education was key for Haiti to get back on their feet following the 2010 earthquake that 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed over 230,000 people.

‘I’m convinced that the key to a dignified future for Haiti is through education,’  she said.

According to officials, the nine-classroom, 250-student school was built in 1913, and was the first in Haiti to provide vocational training for girls.

Rebuilding is said to commence in two months and is expected to take 14 months to complete.
