Actress Katie Holmes has inadvertently started the trend for ‘cardibras’, after the star was spotted on the streets showing off her cashmere lingerie.

The Ohio-𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 former Dawson’s Creek star, 40, was photographed in the knitted intimate garment, designed by Khaite NY and costing a cool $520, which she styled with the brand’s matching $1,540 button-up cardigan.

The image seemed to herald that it’s time for fall fashion, and within an hour the buzzy brand had sold out of the barley-hued ‘Eda bralette’, cementing Katie as the fashion influencer the label didn’t know they needed.

Currently, there’s a waitlist on the brand’s e-commerce site for the cardibra in both the barley shade and black.

Katie teamed her luxury cashmere numbers with simple jeans, a cross-body bag, shades and a low-block heel black leather mule.

And when the images of the mom-of-one made their way to the brand’s social media accounts, users wasted no time weighing in on her style moment on the streets of west Soho in New York.

‘That is a big September mood,’ one woman said of the look, accompanying her comment with flame emojis.

Another added: ‘KH is having quite a moment! The best she’s ever looked.’

As Katie’s outing in the viral outfit – which made headlines everywhere from Vogue to Page Six – with her lookalike daughter Suri, 13, came just after news of her split from actor Jamie Foxx became public knowledge.

Katie, who was first linked to Ray star Jamie, 51, back in 2013, reportedly called it quits on the relationship in May.

‘When you get rid of the baggage! Then you shine like a diamond,’ a user commented on a photo of Katie on Khaite NY’s post – referring to news of the split.

Khaite NY confirmed to The Cut that Katie had purchased the outfit herself, after being introduced to the brand by stylist Jeanne Yang.

Jeanne is the go-to fashion force responsible for actors Robert Downey Jr, Jason Momoa, Keanu Reeves and Christian Bale.

Khaite’s founder and creative director, Catherine Holstein, implied that she had been patiently waiting for the cardibra trend to sky rocket since starting her label.

‘I want everything in cashmere,’ she told the outlet. ‘I want a cashmere house. Why not a bra?

‘I have been making cashmere bras for two years now and really believed that people would catch on eventually. Thank you Katie.’

Kirsten Dunst, Nicole Richie, Bryce Dallas Howard and Laura Harrier are all fans of the fledgling brand, which was founded by Holstein in 2016.

Earlier this summer, Khaite instantly sold out of a pair of fine knit $760 ‘Jane’ pedal pushers after model Emily Ratajkowski was pictured in them on her way to an event with media publication Glamour.
