Amid the unfortunate loss of “General Hospital” soap star Tristan Rogers, who passed away on Aug. 15, fellow soap actor Steve Burton shared an emotional tribute on Instagram about his former castmate.
The two actors were close, as Burton, who plays Jason on the long running daytime soap, worked with Rogers on both “General Hospital” and “The Young and The Restless,” spanning over 30 years of time on the set together.
Tristan Rogers, the longtime Robert Scorpio actor on “General Hospital,” has died at 79 after a battle with cancer. Recently, his fellow soap castmate paid tribute to him.
Along with the sweet tribute were photos of Rogers. “If you know ‘General Hospital,’ you know Robert Scorpio, Tristan Rogers. The man. The legend. The OG,” the caption began.
“I’m truly honored that I had the chance to work alongside Tristan on his very last day at work. Not only that, I got to spend real time with him … just making sure he was taken care of. You could see he was going through it, but the strength he showed to still be there … it spoke volumes.”
While other people might have told Rogers to stay home, Burton said that would have been wasted advice. “’General Hospital’ was his home. And there was no place he would rather have been. Even though he wasn’t feeling his best, he would joke around, still giving us a piece of who he was.”
Once again, Burton referred to Rogers as “a true legend” and went on to thank him for everything he’s done as a genuine pioneer.
“You paved the way for guys like me. Rest easy, my friend. Your light and laughter live on,” he concluded.
Rogers died on Friday at his California home after battling lung cancer. He was 79.
