The 2022 FIFA World Cup is the last World Cup for one of the greatest football players of all time, Lionel Messi. Winner of a record seven Ballon d’Or awards and six European Golden Shoes, Messi has appeared in four World Cups prior to this – 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018.

One of the highest-paid sportspersons in the world, Messi has a net worth of around $600 million (Rs 4891 crore), per Sportskeeda. He was the world’s highest-paid athlete between May 2021 and May 2022, per Forbes, with $75 million (Rs 611 crore) in on-field earnings and $55 million (Rs 448 crore) in off-field earnings. The salary Messi draws from Paris Saint-Germain annually is $35 million (Rs 285 crore), which means he earns $738,000 a week (Rs 6 crore), or $105,000 (Rs 85 lakh) a day, per Insider.

The 35-year-old, unsurprisingly, lives a life full of well-deserved luxuries. Not only does Messi drive some of the costliest cars in the world, but he also owns several uber-expensive homes around the world.

Until parting ways in 2021, Messi played for Barcelona, winning 35 trophies, including ten La Liga titles and seven Copa del Rey titles. Barcelona is also where one of Messi’s luxurious homes is situated.

Messi’s home is a 12-mile drive from the Camp Nou, in the Bellamar neighbourhood of Castelldefels, on the coast of Spain. As per Square Yards, the ace footballer paid €1.8 million (Rs 18 crore) for acquiring this house in 2009 and spent another €6 million (Rs 58 crore) to refurbish the property. Reportedly, the swanky property is in a no-fly zone and planes are not permitted to fly overhead.

Some of the major highlights of the mansion are – a large backyard, where Messi plays football with his pet dogs, a vast open terrace that offers mesmerising view of the Catalan hills and the Mediterranean Sea, a swimming pool, an indoor gym, a big garage and a room where all of Messi’s jerseys. As per The Sun, the current value of the mansion is £5.5 million (Rs 53 crore).

A penthouse in Miami, which is now on sale

In 2020, Messi splashed $7.3 million (Rs 60 crore) to purchase the ninth floor of the Regalia tower in Miami, per New York Post. As per Mirror.uk, the football star put up the property on sale last year for £5.7million (Rs 55 crore), only seven months after purchasing it. Situated just ten miles from Miami Beach, the penthouse has four bedrooms, as many bathrooms and a 2100 sq ft large terrace and offers stunning views of the Miami skyline and the surrounding beach. As per The Sun, the property has almost all modern amenities like a fitness centre, yoga studio, 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren’s playhouse, spa and a champagne bar. Messi also has access to six swimming pools. As per Daily Mail and The Sun, Messi forked out £3 million (Rs 30 crore) earlier this year to build a mansion in his home city of Rosario in Argentina, where he may live permanently after retirement. The property, which took three years to be built, boasts of 20 to 25 rooms, a state-of-the-art gym, a cinema, swimming pool and an underground garage which can accommodate up to 15 cars. The interior of the house has been set up with furniture from Milan, Israel and Paris. Messi reportedly spent Christmas 2021 at the Rosario home.

A home in Ibiza

Messi’s most recent real estate purchase, which he made in September 2022, is a home in Ibiza. As per Sportskeeda, Messi bought the mansion from Swiss business tycoon Philippe Amon for £9.5 million (Rs 92 crore). Located on the west coast of the island of Ibiza, the property is spread across 20020 sq ft. A huge swimming pool, which is as big as the house, and an outdoor football pitch are among the amenities which Messi can avail at his new home. However, due to some planning issues in the property, it is yet to be legalised, per Mid-Day.
