The two-minute trailer, which premiered Monday morning, has already racked up millions of views across platforms. It opens with a haunting shot of a fog-covered, abandoned town. Gosling’s character — Mark Danner, a grieving father — enters the cursed town of Silent Hill in search of his missing daughter.
From the very first scene, the trailer plunges viewers into a world of suffocating tension. The iconic wailing siren, thick mist, and a shadowy glimpse of the terrifying Pyramid Head immediately set the tone. Fans of the original video game series were quick to recognize these callbacks and praised the trailer for its faithful yet modernized horror atmosphere.
Gosling, known for emotionally intense roles in Drive and Blade Runner 2049, called this “one of the most psychologically demanding characters” he’s ever taken on. “Silent Hill isn’t just a horror movie — it’s a psychological journey into guilt, loss, and fear. I was hooked the moment I read the script,” Gosling said at the official press reveal.
Directed by Leigh Whannell (The Invisible Man) and co-produced with game developer Konami, Silent Hill (2025) promises to delve deeper into spiritual horror and emotional trauma, marking a more mature and disturbing take on the series than the 2006 film adaptation.
The trailer also offers brief glimpses of grotesque new monsters and surreal nightmare sequences, suggesting that the film will expand the Silent Hill mythos in bold, unsettling directions.
Scheduled for a Halloween 2025 release, Silent Hill is already being hailed as one of the most anticipated horror films of the decade — a cinematic resurrection of psychological horror at its finest.
