Liverpool are reportedly considering a sensational move for Julian Alvarez, with sources suggesting the club is prepared to offer a staggering £142 million for the Atletico Madrid forward.
According to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are closely monitoring the Argentine star’s situation as they plan for a squad overhaul in the summer of 2025.
Romano stated: “Liverpool are showing concrete interest in Julian Alvarez. A potential bid of around £142 million has been discussed internally. Atletico Madrid see him as a key part of their future, but in football, anything can happen.”
Alvarez, who joined Atletico last summer after leaving Manchester City, has been in outstanding form, scoring 23 goals and providing 5 assists in 45 matches for the Spanish club. His versatility, allowing him to play as a striker, attacking midfielder, or left winger, makes him an ideal candidate for Liverpool, especially with Mohamed Salah potentially leaving at the end of the season.
Despite their Premier League title charge, Liverpool remain determined to strengthen their squad after exiting the Champions League and losing the Carabao Cup final. New manager Arne Slot is eager to secure high-profile signings, and Alvarez appears to be at the top of his wishlist.
However, Atletico Madrid are reluctant to sell, as the 25-year-old is under contract until 2029/30 and is considered a cornerstone of their future project. With Liverpool’s interest growing, the summer transfer window could see an intense battle for Alvarez’s signature.
