The FIA has officially launched an investigation into the flexi-wing ‘mini-DRS’ effect that some Formula 1 teams are allegedly using, following a complaint from Red Bull technical director Pierre Wache.
According to Autoracer, F1’s governing body will be placing rear wings under increased scrutiny at the upcoming Australian Grand Prix next weekend. This move comes after Wache voiced concerns that certain teams, including Ferrari and McLaren, are still utilizing the controversial ‘mini-DRS’ system, which may provide an unfair aerodynamic advantage.

The FIA plans to install cameras on the rear wings of all 10 teams, ensuring any illegal flexibility is closely monitored and penalized if necessary.
When asked about the FIA’s decision to clamp down on rear wings, reigning world champion Max Verstappen responded candidly: “If some teams are still finding ways to bend the rules, then it’s only fair the FIA steps in. We all want a level playing field.”
With the season opener just around the corner, all eyes will be on the Australian Grand Prix to see how this investigation unfolds and whether any teams will face consequences for exploiting rear wing flexibility.
