Oleksandr Usyk revealed his motivation and mocked Tyson Fury’s “isolation” strategy

Oleksandr Usyk has once again proven why he is the greatest heavyweight boxer of this era. After securing a dominant victory over Tyson Fury, the undefeated Ukrainian champion shared his motivation leading up to the fight—while taking a subtle jab at Fury’s strict isolation strategy.

Usyk’s Calm Approach vs. Fury’s Intense Preparation

With an unbeaten record of 23-0, Usyk solidified his status as the world’s top heavyweight by defeating Tyson Fury in their highly anticipated showdown. While Fury appeared tense before and during the fight, Usyk remained composed and confident. When asked about how he managed to neutralize Fury, who outweighed him by 25 kg, Usyk’s response was simple and even playful.

“I don’t know, maybe I just prepared well,” Usyk said. “My wife helped me. Today is a happy day because my sons just won a Judo tournament, earning their blue and orange belts. They told me, ‘Dad, now it’s your turn.’”

In contrast, Tyson Fury took an extreme approach to his training camp. He completely isolated himself from his family for three months, even avoiding any communication with his wife, Paris Fury. However, despite his intense preparation, Fury was unable to change the final outcome.

Usyk’s Victory: A Tactical and Decisive Win

Oleksandr Usyk dominated the fight, securing a 116-112 victory on all three judges’ scorecards. Winning nine out of twelve roundsUsyk left no doubt about his superiority in the ring. Fury, despite his efforts, could only limit the damage rather than mount a serious comeback.

Usyk’s superior technique, movement, and pressure overwhelmed Fury, who struggled to keep up with the Ukrainian’s pace. While Fury had some moments of success, particularly in the middle roundsUsyk’s precise punches and calculated aggression ensured he controlled most of the fight.

What’s Next for the Undisputed Champion?

With this victoryUsyk cements himself as the undisputed heavyweight champion, but his reign may soon be challenged. The biggest immediate threat to his throne is Daniel Dubois, the current IBF heavyweight championDubois won the vacant IBF title after defeating Filip Hrgović in June last year. However, Usyk had originally held this title before being ᵴtriƥped by the IBF just two weeks after becoming the undisputed champion.

Before a potential showdown with UsykDubois must first defend his title against Joseph Parker on February 22 next year. This fight will determine whether Dubois can hold onto his championship belt long enough to set up a massive unification bout with Usyk.

Enjoy the historic victory

For now, Oleksandr Usyk can enjoy the fruits of his victory. The Ukrainian star will take time off to celebrate his win and reflect on his journey to the top of the heavyweight division. Adding to his triumph, Usyk is set to receive an incredible £90 million payout for this fight, making it one of the most lucrative bouts of his career.

While boxing fans eagerly anticipate his next move, one thing is clear—Usyk’s dominance in the heavyweight division is undisputed, and any challenger looking to dethrone him will face an uphill battle.
