Ruben Amorim Reveals Diogo Dalot’s Future After Arsenal Error: “Real Madrid Want Dalot”

Diogo Dalot’s costly mistake during Manchester United’s FA Cup clash against Arsenal sparked heated discussions about his future, with Real Madrid reportedly showing interest in the Portuguese defender. Despite this, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has firmly dismissed any plans to part ways with Dalot.

In a tense encounter at the Emirates, United secured a dramatic 5-3 penalty shootout victory after a 1-1 draw in extra time. However, Dalot’s second yellow card for a rash challenge left United down to ten men, nearly jeopardizing their chances. The dismissal allowed Arsenal to gain momentum, but United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir’s heroic saves ensured the win.

Real Madrid’s Interest

Amidst speculation, Real Madrid has reportedly expressed willingness to pay £45 million for Dalot. However, Ruben Amorim has made his stance clear: the versatile full-back is not for sale. Speaking after the Arsenal game, Amorim emphasized Dalot’s importance to United’s tactical plans.

“Diogo is an essential part of this team,” Amorim stated. “Mistakes happen, but that doesn’t define his value. Real Madrid’s interest shows how much quality he brings, but he’s staying here. He’s integral to our 3-4-3 system and one of the few players naturally suited to it.”

Dalot’s Role in the Squad

Since joining United from FC Porto in 2018 for £19 million, Dalot has become a reliable figure in the squad. Despite struggling on the left flank this season due to injuries to Luke Shaw and uncertainty around Tyrell Malacia, Amorim remains committed to Dalot’s development.

“We’re asking him to adapt to different roles, which isn’t easy,” Amorim admitted. “But he’s shown resilience and professionalism. Once we have balance in the squad, I believe Diogo will excel in his preferred position.”

What’s Next for Dalot?

Dalot will miss United’s Premier League clash against Southampton due to his suspension. This forces Amorim to make difficult decisions regarding the left wing-back position, with Malacia likely to step in despite his uncertain future.

Amorim’s unwavering support for Dalot suggests the defender will continue to play a pivotal role at United, even as top European clubs circle. The manager’s focus is now on ensuring the team’s tactical cohesion and reinforcing the squad, especially on the left side.

For now, United fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing their manager values Dalot’s contribution and is determined to keep him at Old Trafford. Whether Real Madrid will persist in their pursuit remains to be seen.
