Sidney Crosby shared his thoughts after tying Penguins legend Mario Lemieux for most assists in franchise history during the Pittsburgh Penguins’ 7-3 win against the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday night.

Crosby scored a goal and three assists, bringing his career assist count to 1,033. That number matches Lemieux, who had the same number of assists over 915 games in his Hall of Fame career with Pittsburgh. Crosby has hit that mark in 1,308 games as a Penguin.

“Obviously, I didn’t ever think I’d be close to that,” said Sidney Crosby,”I’ve played a lot of games. He played a lot less than I did. It’s what happens when you play long enough.”

Teammate Bryan Rust commented on Crosby’s achievement:

“It’s extremely impressive. But I’m not overly surprised. Sid, I think, is kind of right there with him (Lemieux) in terms of importance to this franchise, and you can see how good he’s been over his entire career, and he just keeps on doing it.”

Crosby’s performance marked his 25th career game in which he scored at least one goal and made three assists, tying with Bobby Orr and Jaromir Jagr for the fifth most.

Rickard Rakell, Michael Bunting (two goals), Rust, Blake Lizotte and Philip Tomasino also scored for the Penguins, while goaltender Tristan Jarry made 24 saves.

Noah Cates, Sean Couturier and Egor Zamula scored for the Flyers. Samuel Ersson allowed five goals on 14 shots before being pulled, while Aleksei Kolosov made six saves in relief.

Sidney Crosby comments after the Penguins’ win against the Flyers

Sidney Crosby praised his team’s offensive efficiency in their dominant 7-3 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers. He highlighted Bryan Rust’s opening goal as a key momentum builder, which set the tone for the game.

“I think we’re just burying our chances,” Crosby said. “In the first we had a lot of momentum, I fely like we built off that big goal for Rusty to get us going, and, yeah, I think we’ve been just working hard, working off each other well and pucks going in.”

The win provided a confidence boost heading into the break. Crosby emphasized the team’s desire to maintain their strong form despite the upcoming pause in play.

“We’re definitely excited about the break, but we’re all encouraged by how we’re playing and want to keep it going,”he noted. So, it’s good to get some momentum before the break, and, you know, just continue to build off of that when we come back .

Sidney Crosby and Co. next face the New York Islanders on Saturday.

THE PAINTED (2024) Official Trailer (4K) SUPERNATURAL

In an intriguing twist for horror enthusiasts, the official trailer for “The Painted,” set to release in 2024, has captured attention with its chilling premise and striking visuals. Directed by a rising talent in the supernatural genre, the film delves into themes of art, legacy, and the haunting consequences of unbridled ambition. The storyline centers around Evelyn, who unexpectedly inherits her late cousin’s estate and is appointed as the executor. As she navigates the complexities of managing the estate, she discovers a series of unsettling paintings that seem to hold dark secrets. The trailer hints at a deeper mystery surrounding these artworks, with Evelyn’s mother dismissing her concerns about their eerie nature. However, Evelyn’s intuition leads her to believe that her cousin’s husband may have been involved in something sinister, potentially attempting to summon otherworldly entities on the night of their tragic deaths. As the plot unfolds, the audience learns about the so-called “painted spirits”—supernatural beings believed to be summoned through art. The film explores a chilling legend: those who become one of the painted are said to escape death, weaving a complex web of horror that intertwines with the very fabric of the estate. Evelyn’s quest to unravel the truth becomes increasingly urgent as she realizes the danger lurking within the estate’s walls. The trailer is filled with suspenseful moments, accentuated by a haunting musical score that enhances the film’s eerie atmosphere. It effectively builds tension as Evelyn races against time to understand the legacy she has inherited and the malevolent forces at play. The visuals capture an unsettling beauty, showcasing the art that serves as both a character and a conduit for the film’s supernatural elements. “The Painted” promises to be a gripping exploration of how the past can haunt the present, and how art can transcend its medium to become a vessel for unimaginable horrors. As viewers anticipate its release, the film’s unique blend of horror and intrigue positions it as a must-see for fans of the genre. With its compelling storyline and atmospheric presentation, “The Painted” is set to leave a lasting impression when it hits theaters next year.

Tiger Woods impact laid bare by new TV ratings after Rory McIlroy fears realized

Tiger Woods impact laid bare by new TV ratings after Rory McIlroy fears realized Tiger Woods provided the PGA Tour with a much-needed boost in television ratings after he and his son, Charlie, finished second in the PNC Championship over the weekend. Tiger Woods’ presence at the PNC Championship provided the PGA Tour with a ratings boost. Tiger Woods’ presence on the greens and fairways was sorely missed by the PGA Tour, which achieved a massive spike in ratings during his return to the course. Over the weekend, Woods competed alongside his son, Charlie, in the PNC Championship in Orlando, Florida. The family affair marked his first time playing since undergoing a sixth surgery on his lower back in September. Prior to the Father/Son Challenge, Woods’ last tournament appearance came at The Open Championship back in July. Over the last four seasons, he’s only managed to make 13 combined starts on the PGA Tour while battling a myriad of health setbacks. Though Team Woods were ultimately forced to settle for second place behind Team Langer, the duo provided fans with several unforgettable moments throughout the weekend – perhaps no more memorable than Charlie’s first-ever hole-in-one on the par-3 fourth hole. “That was the thrill of a lifetime to be able to have that moment with Charlie, make his first hole-in-one, daughter Sam on the bag, just our family and friends. That’s what this event is about. It’s about bonding and family,” Woods said. “I know we didn’t win, but it was the fact that we competed. No one really made a mistake out there. We had to earn it, and that’s what you want to have. Hats off to Langers. They played amazing.” Woods’ dominant performance was a welcome sight for fans, many of whom tuned in to watch the golf legend and his son join forces. According to Sports Media Watch, day one of the PNC Championship averaged 2.92 million viewers across Nielsen and Adobe Analytics – a whopping 147% increase from last year. The audience turnout additionally marked the highest-ever on day one of the tournament dating back to 1995. The second day, meanwhile, averaged 1.42 million – up 32% from 2023. The PNC Championship’s strong viewership numbers – which can likely be attributed to what many have called the ‘Tiger effect’ – are a stark contrast to the dwindling figures of other major tournaments this year. Back in July, the 152nd Open Championship garnered its smallest audience since 2015 after only 3.39 million viewers tuned in. Several months earlier, the final round at the Masters additionally suffered a 20% drop in viewership from the year before. Addressing the dip in ratings, Rory McIlroy attributed the lackluster viewership to the ongoing feud between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. “If you look at the TV ratings of the PGA Tour this year, they’re down 20 percent across the board. That’s a fifth. That’s big. I would say the numbers on LIV aren’t great either in terms of the people tuning in,” he said earlier this year. “I just think with the fighting and everything that’s gone on over the past couple of years, people are just getting fatigued, and it’s turning people off men’s professional golf, and that’s not a good thing for anyone.”
