Meet the nicest guys in Hollywood: From Tom Hardy paying the wages of an entire TV crew to Keanu Reeves gifting Harley Davidson motorcycles

Some Hollywood actors may get accused of being unapproachable, but that’s not every celebrity.

And Tom Hardy is up there with one of the nicest guys in showbiz, along with Keanu Reeves and Hugh Jackman.

Tom recently offered to pay the wages of an entire TV set crew on the new Guy Ritchie series after a construction company went into liquidation.

The Venom star, 47, recently filmed scenes for Guy Ritchie ‘s upcoming TV series, The Associate, in London.

But around 50 freelance building workers were left devastated after Helix 3D, the construction company contracted to build sets, went bust, The Times reported.

This is when Tom stepped in and offered to pay the workers’ wages that Paramount resolved the situation and set about sorting their paychecks.

And after Tom’s sweet gesture this week, MailOnline takes a look at who the nicest guys in Hollywood are…

According to Ryan’s Deadpool & Wolverine co-stars, he is the ‘nicest man in Hollywood.’

Ahead of the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen spoke about the movie in an interview with Comic Book, where the two actors commented on the reputation of Ryan and Hugh Jackman have for being among the kindest stars in Hollywood.

Emma said: ‘They’re the best people you ever met.’

Matthew added: ‘They may be the nicest – it’s sort of sickening. They’re so lovely. They’re so big-hearted and so kind and so funny and lovely.’

Matthew then asked Emma directly: ‘Are they the nicest men in Hollywood?’ To that, Emma said: ‘I genuinely think so.’

Ryan also revealed he stopped getting paid during filming and took a smaller salary to pay for the screenwriters to be on set.

Ryan explained: ‘I let go of getting paid to do the movie just to put it back on the screen: They wouldn’t allow my co-writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick on set, so I took the little salary I had left and paid them to be on set with me so we could form a de facto writers room.’

The Marvel star said that despite having to give up his pay, it was worth it to help the creative team which was struggling working with a tight budget.

He said: ‘I think one of the great enemies of creativity is too much time and money, and that movie had neither time nor money. It really fostered focusing on character over spectacle, which is a little harder to execute in a comic-book movie.

‘I was just so invested in every micro-detail of it and I hadn’t felt like that in a long, long time. I remembered wanting to feel that more — not just on Deadpool, but on anything.’

Over the years Keanu has earned himself the title of Mr Nice Guy in Hollywood following an endless series of selfless gestures.

Reeves’ colleagues and fans have come out to commend the actor’s kind-hearted nature and shared their positive experiences of the star.

Tales that have been told include Reeves, 59, handing out expensive Rolex watches to the John Wick stunt crew and gifting Harley Davidson motorcycles to the stunt people who worked on The Matrix Reloaded.

Reeves has also been known to take a pay cut from his own salary in order to benefit the film as whole, whether that is to accommodate other big stars being brought onto the cast or adding to the special effects and costume budget.

Reeves celebrity has made him a prized addition to many social events, even weddings.

In August of 2022, Reeves surprised a couple at their wedding in Northamptonshire .

He bumped into customer sales rep James Roadnight and his wife Nikki, who works with dogs, because he happened to be staying in the same four-star hotel as them.

Reeves had previously delighted two other couples in 2018 when he posed for joyous photos after their nuptials.

Hugh has long had a glowing reputation for being a lovely person, and a whole host of fans have shared their favourite stories about him.

Despite being well-known for his portrayal of cranky, tough and angry superhero Wolverine, Hugh is much more personable in real life.

The esteemed actor, 55, has been lauded for his ‘down to earth’ personality and being ‘generous’ with his fans as nobody had a bad word to say about him.

One fan revealed they used to see Hugh in the gym, while another recalled meeting the Hollywood star while he was filming for the 2008 movie Australia.

‘Just adding my voice to the chorus of all the others saying Hugh Jackman is lovely – met him very briefly when he was filming ‘Australia’ in North Queensland and he could not have been nicer,’ one said.

‘Polite, gracious, funny, down to earth and generous with his time. Top bloke.’

Another recalled: ‘Hugh Jackman went to my gym during filming for Wolverine. He would say good morning every time I saw him (at 5.30am!) and ask how I was.’

And a third agreed as they added: ‘My former housemate did some plumbing work for Hugh Jackman and said he was one of the nicest people he had ever met.’

The Rock received praised from his costar, Chris Evans, for his incredible generosity toward their crew while filming their new movie Red One.

While speaking about working with the successful wrestler-turned-actor, 52, Chris, 43, revealed that the international icon is an expert at boosting morale on set .

‘He does this thing on movie sets, at the end of the week the crew will all put in 5, 10 bucks in this little bucket. They get raffle tickets. It’s called ‘five-dollar Friday,” he told People. ‘Someone draws a name at the end of the day and they win a couple-thousand bucks.’

Chris proceeded to marvel over how Johnson ‘would splash the pot in ways that no other actor can keep up with.’

‘As actors we’re like, ‘I’ll splash the pot. I’ll put in a chunk of change here. I’m not in the running for it,’ but just a way to say thank you to the crew each week,’ the Captain America explained.

But, unlike anyone else he’s ever worked with, Chris revealed that Dwayne would step in and and more than triple the giveaway pot.

The actor recalled one time when the giveaway pot was at 5,000, that Johnson raised it to 20,000, before repeatedly deciding to shell out even more cash for the crew.

‘This is crazy. I’m not exaggerating. [Johnson] was like, ‘Oh, well what’s the pot? Five grand? How about it’s called 20,” Evans detailed. ‘So he picks a name and someone’s going crazy and he’s like, ‘Should we do it again? How about 40?’ … I’m not exaggerating — the number got up big, and he pulled out five or six names.’

Chris noted that their crew was ‘just so excited to work for’ Dwayne, who he pointed out ‘works just as hard back for them.’

Upon hearing Chris’ sweet remarks, Dwayne said: ‘Well, I love that. Our crew is the backbone of our business, so you want to take care of them.’

Chris previously estimated that Dwayne gave out a combined $100,000 to various crewmembers on set in a single day.

Tom offered to pay the wages of an entire TV set crew on the new Guy Ritchie series after a construction company went into liquidation.

The Venom star recently filmed scenes for Guy Ritchie ‘s upcoming TV series, The Associate, in London.

But around 50 freelance building workers were left devastated after Helix 3D, the construction company contracted to build sets, went bust, The Times reported.

It is said that the company then refused to pay out £250,000 of wages ahead of Christmas , and its chief executive Brian Dowling sent out the devastating message last week saying their pay would likely not be in their accounts before the New Year.

It wasn’t until star Tom stepped in and offered to pay the workers’ wages that Paramount resolved the situation and set about sorting their paychecks.

A source close to Tom told The Times: ‘He offered to [pay], but the production and Paramount have sorted the payment.’

Meanwhile a Paramount source said they were ‘outraged’ at the situation and plans were in place to make sure the workers were paid.

In a letter seen by the publication, organising official for the broadcasting union Bectu, Chris Hudson, said: ‘Our members deserve to be treated with dignity and respect and compensated on time for their work.

‘It is wholly unacceptable that they are facing significant financial precarity, particularly ahead of Christmas.

‘This close to Christmas, our members are rightly very distressed, with many fearing they will be unable to cover necessities.’
