Parker Finn hasn’t given away how “Smile 2” will link to the rest of the Smile series, but he’s hinted in a chat with Den Of Geek that he intentionally left parts of the original movie open-ended to dive into in a sequel.
He expressed his eagerness to explore new avenues with “Smile,” mentioning, “I’ve intentionally left certain aspects of the movie vague, with the hope of expanding on them later. My biggest goal is to avoid simply doing the same thing over again. I aim for the sequel to be surprising and refreshing, something that really catches the audience off guard with a completely new set of surprises.”
The follow-up to “Smile,” still without a title, is a highly anticipated American psychological supernatural horror film, both penned and helmed by Parker Finn. Kyle Gallner, Naomi Scott, Lukas Gage, and Rosemarie DeWitt will star in the sequel. It picks up from “Smile” (2022), itself based on Finn’s earlier short film “Laura Hasn’t Slept” (2020), with pre-production having kicked off by April 2023.
