The story of The Crow (2024) centres around soulmates Eric and Shelly, who are brutally murdered. Eric is given a chance to save the love of his life, but at a terrible cost—he must sacrifice himself and journey between the worlds of the living and the dead, all while seeking revenge.
Unfortunately, The Crow (2024) falls short as yet another failed attempt to remake the iconic 1994 cult classic starring Brandon Lee. While we have great respect for Bill Skarsgård, an actor who has already made a strong impression in remakes such as Stephen King’s IT and who is also set to star as Count Orlok in the highly anticipated 2024 Nosferatu remake, even he couldn’t fully salvage this project. The direction feels weak, despite solid performances from the cast. The cinematography is a standout, with beautifully crafted shots and excellent visual framing, but the film lacks the tension that should build up to the moment of revenge. More disappointingly, there is no real chemistry between the actors, which is a huge letdown. What could have been an emotional and powerful journey feels hollow, as one of the most beloved remakes sadly falls flat and burns out.
