BTS RM’s Verse In New Megan Thee Stallion Song Triggers Divided Reactions

Some netizens didn’t like verse.

American rapper Megan Thee Stallion‘s new song “Neva Play,” featuring BTS‘s RM, was released today. RM is seen and heard in a way we’ve never had before. His voice is even deeper than usual, and since he’s in the military, he’s in the music video via animation.

ARMYs weren’t prepared for RM’s 𝓈ℯ𝓍y, deep voice. His part sent the fandom collectively into meltdown.

Yet, some netizens aren’t fans of RM’s feature. One line specifically has garnered attention online, ruffling feathers. On Megan Thee Stallion’s song, RM says, “We paved the way,” which non-fans didn’t appreciate.

The line ended up trending on X (formerly Twitter) with 76.1K related posts at the time of writing. Yet, it wasn’t quite right. Part of the uproar online was due to misunderstanding RM’s line. Some netizens interrupted RM’s line as saying that “Asian men paved the way.”

The actual lyric is “For Asia, man, we paved the way,” meaning that Asia paved the way, not specifically him or even Asian men.

What do you think about RM’s feature on Megan Thee Stallion’s “Neva Play?”
