Cristiano Ronaldo on Friday appeared in a video wearing traditional Saudi attire to celebrate the Kingdom’s National Day.

The Saudi people are set to mark their 93rd national day on Saturday, September 23, during which military parades, a biker parade, an arms exhibition across major cities will be held, and other festivals.

The Saudi Al-Nassr football club, whose Ronaldo is captaining its football team, released the video on its account on X.

According to the 2-minute video, Ronaldo, Senegalese footballer Sadio Mane, and their Al-Nassr teammates appeared performing traditional dances with swords prepared to mark the Saudi holiday by the club.

Since Ronaldo joined the Saudi club in December 2022, he has usually taken part in Saudi holidays.

Amber Brantsen attacked after Max Verstappen interview: ‘Stupid!’

Amber Brantsen, a prominent Dutch television presenter, is facing significant backlash following her recent interview with Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen on the streaming platform Viaplay. The hour-long conversation, which has drawn scrutiny from viewers, faced particular criticism for its opening moments, where Brantsen presented Verstappen with Kinder chocolate bars. This gesture has been labeled by some as outdated and inappropriate, especially given Verstappen’s stature in the sports world. Evert Zandstra, head editor of the magazine Privé and a regular panelist on the show Newws, was particularly vocal about his discontent. During the broadcast, he condemned the interview’s initial focus on chocolates, calling it a waste of valuable time. Zandstra argued that a figure like Verstappen, who has the means to purchase anything he desires, does not require such trivial gifts, characterizing the gesture as uncomfortable and out of touch. Furthermore, the structure of the interview itself did not fare well with critics. Brantsen employed a format that involved responding to pre-existing quotes through cue cards, which Zandstra felt lacked depth and substance. He emphasized that the opportunity to engage with Verstappen should have been used to pose incisive questions that could uncover new insights, rather than recycling old statements. Adding to the controversy, the interview took place just before Verstappen announced on Instagram that he is expecting his first 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥. Brantsen chose not to address this significant life event, a decision Zandstra deemed a missed opportunity. He expressed that failing to acknowledge such news could leave an interviewer regretting their oversight. In defense of her approach, Brantsen argued that she respected Verstappen’s desire to share his news on his own terms and at an appropriate time. Despite her explanation, the incident has sparked a broader debate about the responsibilities of interviewers and the expectations surrounding celebrity interviews. While some defend Brantsen’s lighter tone, others echo Zandstra’s sentiments, viewing it as a chance lost to truly connect with a sports icon. Regardless of the mixed opinions, it is clear that Brantsen’s chocolate offering has ignited a spirited discussion in the media landscape.
