Dominik Szoboszlai has been voted Liverpool’s Standard Chartered Men’s Player of the Month for August.
The Reds’ No.8 claims the prize for the first time in the 2023-24 season after a brilliant start to his career on Merseyside.
Szoboszlai finished in first place in a fan poll on Liverpoolfc.com, ahead of teammates Alisson Becker and Darwin Nunez in second and third respectively.
After collecting the award at the AXA Training Centre, he said: “It’s a really good feeling. Thanks to all of those who voted for me.
“I’m just doing my thing, helping the team and happy that I can do my best.
“It [the start] was also for me a surprise but thanks to the guys and thanks to the manager. It’s easier that way if I have somebody who is helping me.
“But as I said, I’m trying to do my best, helping the team and the team is in front of everything.
“It was the first thing in my mind – how it’s going to be to play in Anfield in front of them [the supporters] or even the away games. They are always there. I’m really happy to make them enjoy.”
The Hungary captain started all three of Liverpool’s Premier League fixtures in the month, from which they took seven points from a possible nine.
After starting away at Chelsea on the opening weekend, Szoboszlai produced a Player of the Match performance in the 3-1 victory over AFC Bournemouth before impressing again in the comeback win away at Newcastle United.
“I think there’s always more to come,” he continued. “I can also improve a lot and also try to look to the players who are here almost seven years or even more, or a little bit less here. Trying to take some advice from them and just continue like this.”
