An Elephant Orphanage feeds, shelters, and provides a home for orphaned elephants. They take particular care of these two adorable twin ๐๐๐๐ฆ elephants.
Over the years, this orphanage has helped rehabilitate abandoned or injured elephants. Two of their newest residents are a pair of twins ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ง from an elephant they helped rehabilitate.
Unlike most animals, elephants are similar to humans in that they tend to have only one ๐ค๐ฉ๐ช๐ญ๐ฅ at a time. Twins only take place in one percent of ๐๐ข๐ซ๐ญ๐กs. Luckily, both twins and mom are healthy and happy.
These two little ones showed a lot of personality from the very beginning. They are familiar with their caretakers, even teasing and playing with them while their mother calmly watches.
Itโs easy to see just how much the staff loves the elephants, and the elephants seem to love them in return, coming over as often as they can to cuddle and get pets.
Part of that love means knowing when to let the elephants go. When the adorable babies have grown to an age where they can manage independently, they will be released back into the wild.
The tender calves will get to play and bond with the caring staff and their mother until then. As they grow, they are sure to continue inspiring visitors to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage.
