The Witcher season 3 part 2 trailer teases first glimpse at Henry Cavill’s gut-wrenching exit

If the official trailer for season three part two of The Witcher is anything to go by, fans will have to brace themselves for an emotional Henry Cavill exit.

The British actor, 40, has played protagonist Geralt of Rivia since the series began in December 2019 and has received widespread praise for his performance.

However, in 2022, Cavill, also known for his portrayal of Superman in the DC Extended Universe, announced he would be leaving the series.

The news shocked The Witcher devotees and left his fellow cast members ‘mourning’ – Cavill announced he would depart at the end of season three.

It was then confirmed that his replacement would be Liam Hemsworth, with the Hunger Games actor picking up the role from the start of season four.

And based on the trailer for the last three episodes of season three, Hemsworth will have big shoes to fill once Cavill passes the torch to him.

The action in the teaser picks up immediately after the dramatic mid-season finale, which saw Sigismund Dijkstra (Graham McTavish) betray Geralt.

With Dijkstra’s coup now in effect, Geralt can be seen hacking his way through various enemies and reuniting with Ciri (Freya Allen) and Yennefer (Anya Cholatra).

He promises that they ‘didn’t come this far to abandon each other’, while Jaskier (Joey Batey) warns that Geralt will cause an uproar to reunite with his daughter.

‘Be their hero, Geralt – their angel, be their monument, be anything they need you to be. Or be none of it, you don’t owe this world a thing,’ one fan commented.

‘Henry Cavill’s contribution to the series and him wanting Netflix to be book accurate is admirable, it’s crazy he’s no longer Witcher,’ another said.

However, despite the promises of war, once the action dies down, Geralt can be seen floating motionless in a body water, presumably injured.

‘There’s no coming back from this’, a voiceover provided by Cavill says, implying that Geralt might not be the same once Hemsworth takes over.

‘My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords,’ a statement said.

‘In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf,’ the Enola Holmes actor said in his short final address to fans.
