Iron Man’s Robert Downey Jr. Was Reportedly on Captain America 4’s Set

According to a security staff member at the Captain America: Brave New World set, Robert Downey Jr. appeared during shooting.

Iron Man actor Rober Downey Jr. reportedly appeared on-set during the shooting of Captain America: Brave New World.

As posted on LinkedIn by Nawar Shora, a security guard at the Captain America film’s set revealed that Downey Jr. had visited them. He also reported seeing a variety of “supercars” (no pun intended) being driven around. “They are filming Captain America 4 around the White House and near my office. I was on a quick errand walk as I noticed all the lights and equipment and finally asked one of the security folks about it,” Shora wrote. “He was so talkative and nice, said — (SPOILER) — Robert Downey Jr was there last night and they were driving all sorts of super cars.” The fourth installment of the Captain America saga, Captain America: Brave New World, is currently being shot in Washington, DC. and will feature Anthony Mackie as he continues to take on the Captain America Mantle.

The film follows the events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Released in Spring 2021, the show follows Mackie’s Sam Wilson as he contends with Steve Rogers’ absence and has to accept his role as the new Captain America. Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes, who featured as the other half of the duo in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, is rumored to return in the new film. He’ll also star in the upcoming Thunderbolts.

Will Robert Downey Jr. Return to the MCU?

Downey Jr. has a show streaming on Max called Downey’s Dream Cars, where the actor, along with a crew of specialists, restores classic cars to make them more environmentally friendly. However, it is doubtful that his reported appearance on the set of Captain America 4 is related to Robert Downey Jr.’s automobile-themed show, as the latter was released early in the film’s production.

The MCU’s latest phase is all about the multiverse, so it is not out of the question that Robert Downey Jr. could appear in the film. The possibility of RDJ reprising his iconic role as Iron Man is dubious, as bringing him back from the dead wouldn’t be the most logical move for Marvel. However, it is not out of the question for him to be in a flashback or play a variant of himself.
