The Young & The Restless actor Conner Floyd reflected on playing his character Detective Chance Chancellor for nearly five years following his heartbreaking exit from the drama.
Conner Floyd is saying goodbye.
The Young & The Restless star penned an emotional tribute to his character Chance Chancellor after the detective was 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed in the July 28 episode of the soap opera.
“It’s been real, GC,” Conner captioned the July 28 Instagram post, which featured a behind-the-scenes video compilation. “What a ride. I have truly been blessed to call myself a citizen of Genoa City. To share the stage with so many talented and hard working actors, creatives and crew members. This is without a doubt a special place.”
The actor—who joined the cast in 2021 as the 12th person to portray the character—expressed his gratitude for being “part of such an iconic piece of art that has lasted through the decades and that has such a stellar, die hard fan base.”
“Thank you for accepting me,” he continued. “Chance will always have a close place in my heart. He’s taught me a lot and I’ll miss him dearly. It’s been an absolute honor to represent the Chancellor legacy.”
The 32-year-old concluded his post, writing for the last time, “Detective Chancellor, over and out.”
Before his untimely death, Chance was among those invited to the French estate of Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn), who suspected someone was trying to 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁 him. After all, Damian Kane (Germaine Rivers) was recently murdered.
When it was revealed that Aristotle Dumas’ assistant Carter (Vincent Stalba) was behind Damian’s murder, Aristotle took Cane’s ex wife Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) hostage. Ultimately, Chance, jumping into action, was shot during the altercation.
For Conner, his character’s ending felt like a fitting conclusion.
“As sad as it is, I think that’s how Chance would want to go out,” he told TV Insider in an interview published July 28. “That’s his story that he’s always been telling—that he’s a hero—and the ultimate person to put everybody else above himself, so I think it’s a little poetic in a way. And then the way I died in Billy Flynn’s arms is also very poetic.”
But that didn’t make it easier saying goodbye to the cast and crew after nearly five years together.
“We had this last scene, and everyone was clapping, and I was saying goodbye to everyone and walking out, and I cried like a 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦,” he recalled. “But there are good things on the horizon.”
In fact, Conner has since joined the cast of Days of Our Lives as Chad DiMera.
“Everyone’s awesome and very welcoming and very helpful,” he told the outlet. “I’ve hit the ground running, and it’s been going great so far.”

Pedro Pascal, The Last of Us
While fans maybe should have been aware that the days were numbered for Pedro Pascal‘s Joel Miller, considering his April 2025 death was quite similar to how it unfolded in The Last of Us Part II, the 2020 video game season two of The Last of Us is based on, the moment his character was brutally impaled still stunned.

Killing off the somewhat tormented, but beloved, firefighter was certainly a hot topic, showrunner Tim Minear acknowledged to Variety, “but after eight years, it just felt like, if we have any hope of creating stories going forward that have actual stakes, then someone’s got to die.”
