The darkness is rising again—and this time, it’s personal.
Universal Pictures has just released the first official trailer for Van Helsing 2: The Crimson Requiem (2025), the long-awaited sequel to the gothic action-horror hit. Henry Cavill reprises his role as the legendary monster hunter Gabriel Van Helsing, now older, more brutal, and hunted by the very forces he once vanquished.
Directed by Robert Eggers (The Northman, The Witch), the film plunges deeper into Eastern European folklore, reimagining the war between vampires, witches, and humanity through a darker, more psychological lens. Joining Cavill is Anya Taylor-Joy, who plays Lilith, a mysterious witch aligned with the Crimson Court—an ancient coven resurrecting Dracula’s lineage.
The trailer opens with thunder crashing over a crumbling monastery, blood rituals unfolding by candlelight, and Van Helsing sharpening silver stakes while haunted by voices from his past. Cavill’s gritty voiceover: “The monsters I hunted have learned to pray… and now they pray for vengeance.”
We see glimpses of a corrupted Transylvania, blood-red moons, and brutal hand-to-hand combat between Van Helsing and vampiric knights. Taylor-Joy’s Lilith is both terrifying and enchanting, dancing between villain and tragic survivor.
Also starring Richard E. Grant, Dev Patel, and Sophie Okonedo, The Crimson Requiem promises to blend myth, madness, and muscle in a return to horror-adventure grandeur.
Van Helsing 2 is set to hit theaters globally on October 10, 2025, just in time for Halloween.
