The skies have cracked open, and the gods are going to war. Marvel Studios has just dropped the teaser trailer for Thor 5: Battle of the Gods, marking the epic return of Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder in what promises to be his most mythic and emotionally charged journey yet.
Following the events of Thor: Love and Thunder and Avengers: Secret Wars, the trailer opens with a devastated Asgard and a bearded Thor standing amidst celestial ruins. A booming voice declares: “The old gods are dying… and the new ones are coming to claim the throne.”
In Battle of the Gods, Thor finds himself caught in an all-out war between surviving pantheons—Asgardian, Greek, Egyptian, and more—as an ancient force awakens beneath the World Tree. Teased in shadows is the mysterious villain Kronos, the primordial god of time, who seeks to rewrite existence and erase divine bloodlines.
We get brief glimpses of returning favorites: Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie leading the last defenders of New Asgard, Taika Waititi’s Korg cracking skulls (and jokes), and even a shocking appearance of Tom Hiddleston’s Loki—or at least a version of him. The teaser’s biggest moment? Thor summoning Mjolnir and Stormbreaker simultaneously, both charged with golden cosmic energy.
Hemsworth looks more powerful than ever, and the tone of the teaser is both grand and grounded. A new original score, thunderous visuals, and a closing shot of a god vs. god battlefield—lightning clashing with fire and darkness—have left fans stunned.
Directed by Ryan Coogler in a surprising Marvel team-up, the film blends Norse mythology with high-concept cosmic warfare, setting the stage for the next era of the MCU.
Social media exploded minutes after the teaser dropped, with hashtags like #Thor5, #BattleOfTheGods, and #HemsworthReturns trending worldwide.
Thor 5: Battle of the Gods is set for release on May 1, 2026, and is expected to be the crown jewel of Marvel’s Phase 7.
The gods have ruled long enough. Now, they must fight for their legacy.
