Alexis Mac Allister Reveals Argentine Star Set to Join Liverpool After Alexander-Arnold Departure

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has dropped a major hint that his fellow Argentina teammate Lautaro Martínez could be on his way to Anfield this summer, following the confirmed exit of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

According to Argentine outlet El Crack Deportivo, Mac Allister has personally advised the Liverpool board to move swiftly in securing the signature of Inter Milan’s captain, Lautaro Martínez, once the season concludes. The two share a strong bond after lifting the 2022 World Cup and the 2024 Copa América together, and Mac Allister is eager for a reunion in the Premier League.

Speaking to reporters, Mac Allister expressed his excitement about the possibility:

“Lautaro is not just a great striker; he’s a leader, a warrior on the field. I’ve told the club that signing him would elevate us to another level. I’d love to play alongside him here at Anfield. He has everything we need in attack,” the Argentine midfielder said.

Martínez has been in outstanding form this season, netting eight goals in the Champions League to help push Inter Milan to the semi-finals, and scoring a remarkable 21 goals across all competitions — far surpassing the tallies of current Liverpool forwards Diogo Jota (9 goals) and Darwin Núñez (7 goals).

However, Inter Milan reportedly value their star at €100 million, a figure that will pose a significant challenge for Liverpool’s summer transfer plans. Still, with the club actively searching for a new striker, names like Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, and Jonathan David have all been floated, but Mac Allister’s endorsement of Martínez may push him to the top of the wishlist.

Meanwhile, Liverpool fans are bracing for the emotional departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has rejected the club’s contract renewal offer. Real Madrid is widely seen as his likely destination, with several reports confirming the Spanish giants’ strong interest.

If finalized, the move would see Alexander-Arnold follow in the footsteps of former Liverpool stars like Michael Owen, Xabi Alonso, and Steve McManaman, who all made the switch to the Bernabéu in their careers. At just 26, Alexander-Arnold has been a cornerstone at Anfield, dedicating over two decades to the club from youth academy days to becoming one of the world’s best right-backs, winning two Premier League titles, a Champions League, and numerous domestic trophies.

As Liverpool prepare for a summer of significant change, Mac Allister’s call for a high-profile Argentine reunion may signal a bold new era at Anfield.
