Universal Pictures and Blumhouse have just unveiled the official first trailer for The Exorcist: Believer (2025), the highly anticipated spiritual sequel that promises to bring classic horror back to a new generation. Featuring a leading cast of Ariana Greenblatt, Julia Butters, and Mahershala Ali, the trailer has left fans on the edge of their seats.

The two-minute trailer begins with a chilling atmosphere in a small Louisiana town, where two teenage girls, played by Greenblatt and Butters, start exhibiting increasingly disturbing behavior after exploring an abandoned church. Tension quickly escalates as scenes of brutal exorcisms, demonic visions, and supernatural phenomena take over their lives and the lives of those around them.
Mahershala Ali portrays Father Marcus Bennett, a priest who had abandoned his ministry after a personal tragedy but is forced to confront his past as he tries to save the two girls. In the trailer, Ali narrates in a low, haunting voice: “Evil never dies. It only waits to be summoned again.”
Directed by David Gordon Green, who also helmed the Halloween reboot, the film promises a darker, more psychological story than previous installments. In one of the trailer’s most striking scenes, Ariana Greenblatt is seen levitating in mid-air, screaming in Latin, while Julia Butters’ appearance progressively distorts under the demonic influence.
The trailer’s soundtrack blends the iconic notes of Tubular Bells with new unsettling tones, strengthening the connection to the 1973 original classic. At the very end, a flash of a demonic figure in a mirror delivers a final spine-chilling moment, followed by the tagline: “The true believer is the one who survives.”
The Exorcist: Believer is set to hit theaters in October 2025, just in time for Halloween. Early reports suggest it will kick off a brand-new trilogy within The Exorcist universe.
