Boosie Badazz has been threatened with legal action after using the name of deceased college student Caleb Wilson to promote his Boosie Bash festival.

Wilson was recently 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed during an incident at Southern University in Louisiana where he was punched in the chest multiple times as part of a hazing ritual for a fraternity group.

After the 20-year-old’s death made headlines, Boosie announced plans to fund a scholarship in Wilson’s honor using funds from Boosie Bash, which was held at Southern University this past weekend and featured performances from GloRilla, Sexyy Red, DaBaby and more.

Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill slammed Boosie’s actions on Monday (March 24) and claimed that he did not make Wilson’s parents aware of his plan to use their son’s name.

Speaking to WBRZ, Murrill indicated that she intends to take legal action against the “Wipe Me Down” rapper over misappropriation of Wilson’s name and likeness to market his festival.

She aso claimed that Wilson’s parents “did not know the event was happening” and “have requested that his name, image, and any reference to a scholarship for him be removed from all promotional materials.”

The attorney general further accused Boosie of committing “dramatic misrepresentation and misappropriation of Caleb’s name and image to support a for-profit event without the consent of Caleb’s parents.”

She added: “All of this apparently came together in a very short order, and I think the promoters saw an opportunity to promote the event on the backs of people who just suffered an unimaginable loss.

“It is just disgusting, they owe the family an apology. If they wanted to do this, the first people they should have asked was the family. Nobody has made any effort to put money in the scholarship, Boosie hasn’t even funded any of it.”

Boosie claimed in his own interview with the network last week that he had worked with “[Wilson’s] dad and all the people who made this work” in regards to the scholarship.

He has since responded to Murrill’s criticism on social media, writing: “ITS SAD FOR THIS LAWYER [AND] FAMILY TO SAY I PROMOTED MY EVENT OFF SOMEONES PASSING. MY EVENT WAS PROMOTED ON EVENTBRITE SINCE NOV 14. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED A WEEK BEFORE MY EVENT WAS TO TAKE PLAC. HOW THE FUCK CAN I CAPITALIZE OFF SOMEONE DEATH FOR A CONCERT. THAT AINT ME.”

He continued: “A DEATH OF A STUDENT WONT HELP A CONCERT IT WOULD HURT A CONCERT. I WAS ASK TO HELP THE SITUATION N THATS WHAT I WAS DOING ONCE I MADE IT HOME. BUT FOR YALL TO SAY THAT YALL ARE TAKING LEGAL ACTION AGAINST SOMEONE WHO IS TRYING TO HELP YALL IS A SLAP N MY FACE N COMPLETELY WRONG.

Following the death of Wilson, a former student of Southern University named Caleb McCray was arrested by police and charged with manslaughter and criminal hazing.

Two other men were also arrested and charged with misdemeanor hazing, but their identities have not yet been made public.
