How To Train Your Dragon | New Final Trailer

The live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon is set to significantly enhance Astrid’s character, improving upon her portrayal in the original animated films. In the beloved trilogy, Astrid played a crucial supporting role, initially serving as Hiccup’s rival before becoming his closest ally and love interest. However, with the primary focus on Hiccup and Toothless, Astrid never fully took center stage, resulting in limited character depth and personal agency.

That’s set to change in the 2025 live-action adaptation. While the film remains largely faithful to the 2010 animated classic, some elements have been reworked. During a media event attended by *Screen Rant*, director Dean DeBlois revealed that one of the most significant updates involves expanding Astrid’s character, giving her more depth and stronger personal motivations in her conflict with Hiccup. This adjustment demonstrates the film’s careful balance between staying true to the original story and refining it for live-action.
