Greg Norman is one of the greatest golfers, no doubt about that. Regardless of the criticism that the CEO of LIV Golf receives on a daily basis, the career he had is worthy of respect. The 69-year-old golfer managed to celebrate twice at The Open while he failed at other Majors, although he was close many times. Norman wasn’t lucky in many moments of his career, but the mark he left, appearing years back, is indelible.
Golf fans have their favorites, considering some to be golf legends, while others don’t have such an opinion.
When talking about the legends of golf, a few names are usually mentioned, such as Jack Nicklaus, who managed to win the Majors 18 times.
Of course, we can’t but mention Tiger Woods, who is currently the most famous golfer of modern times. Tiger managed to win 15 titles at the Majors, attracting a large number of people to golf. The dominance he had, his influence, and his popularity make him one of the greatest in this sport.
Another important name is Arnold Palmer, the amazing golfer who won the Majors 7 times. We don’t have to spend many words about him. Older golf fans, as well as the new generations, know him well.
There is also Gary Player, who celebrated 9 times in the Majors. He’s one of three golfers who won the ‘Grand Slam’. Now 89 years old, he still attracts attention with his analyses, stories, and successes.
There are many more candidates for such a debate, such as Phil Mickelson, Sam Snead, Tom Watson, and many others. Golf fans have different opinions, and the debate about the greatest seems to always go on.
David Feherty on Greg NormanDavid Feherty, a Northern Irish golfer and today a broadcaster, decided to make his comment in an interview for NCG. Feherty is someone who thinks highly of Greg Norman, considering him the Tiger Woods before Tiger Woods. Golf fans today forget how important Norman was in the world of golf, but older generations remember well the magic Norman worked on golf courses.
Feherty labeled the current CEO of LIV Golf as the most recognizable person in the world for a long time. His playing style, appearance, charisma, and many other things made him unique and at the same time special. David believes that no matter what plans Norman had in the future, and what moves he made, he’ll always remain a legend of golf. No one can erase what he has built for years.
“His fingerprints are all over this and always will be. People forget at times that before Tiger Woods, there was Greg Norman who brought that level of fitness,” Feherty told NCG.
“The guy won more than 100 tournaments around the world. He was Tiger Woods before Tiger Woods. He was the most recognisable personality on the planet for a long time, with his long blonde hair and swashbuckling moves on the golf course. He’s an amazing character, larger than life and if he does take a different position within the organisation, his influence is always going to be felt no matter where he is in the organisation.”
David Feherty on LIV Golf offerFeherty is also part of LIV Golf, admitting that the financial offer that was on the table was hard to refuse. Of course, this golf analyst doesn’t want to deny that money was also a motive or rather a primary motive, but he also admits that the golf legends who decided to embark on the same project are the reason why he joined.
The former golfer wanted to be the chief analyst at NBC. Feherty admits that LIV Golf is not what it’s presented in the media, given that there’s unity between players, officials, and the media.
David points out that he has never seen such a community before. Although many golfers had doubts about whether to accept the invitation from LIV Golf, judging by the reactions now, it seems that many are happy that they decided on such a promising project.
David emphasizes that LIV Golf Tour knows how to treat players, and show them their importance. His opinion is that such things don’t happen on other Tours.
“But the players, the officials, the media. We all felt like we were in this together. We have access to the players, and they get it, they get that they’re part of the whole show and I think sometimes that gets lost in other tours.”- Feherty said.
LIV Golf executives have attracted interesting names to their Tour. Feherty is certainly one of them, but there are many other famous names who want to build a career on the Saudi-backed Tour.
