Xavi Hernandez has emerged as a potential managerial candidate for Manchester United, with recent negotiations adding fuel to the speculation. Sources reveal that intermediaries have approached the former Barcelona star twice in the past few months, indicating United’s interest in securing Xavi if they choose to part ways with current manager Erik ten Hag.
A four-man delegation, led by chief executive Omar Berrada, recently flew to Barcelona for high-level meetings, sparking rumors about Xavi’s possible involvement. While some believe the meetings were related to co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s involvement in the America’s Cup, the timing has intensified discussions around Xavi’s future with the club.
Xavi has reportedly expressed interest in new opportunities outside of Spain, and should United decide to make a managerial change, Ten Hag’s assistant, Ruud van Nistelrooy, could serve as a short-term replacement.
As of now, Manchester United insists that Ten Hag remains in charge, with no immediate plans for change ahead of their Europa League clash against Fenerbahce. However, speculation continues to grow as Xavi’s name circles around Old Trafford.
