Recently, the world of sports has had to receive too much sad news when athletes in many different sports passed away after accidents. Recently, the Dailymail (UK) once again reported shocking news from the boxing ring . American super welterweight boxer – Patrick Day breathed his last on October 16 in the US, surrounded by family and friends.

Patrick took 3 fatal punches, including a hook that knocked him down.

Previously on October 12, Patrick Day fought against Charles Conwell for the US super welterweight title. In the 10th round, Patrick was completely overwhelmed, resulting in him receiving 3 “heavenly” punches and falling to the ground. When the referee counted, his family and the audience hoped that Patrick would get up to continue the fight, but the 27-year-old boxer could not stand on his own two feet from that moment on.

Due to the severe concussion, the 27-year-old boxer was rushed to the hospital by medical staff to undergo brain surgery. The worst happened, after 5 days in a deep coma, Patrick passed away on October 16.

Day’s manager Di Bella said: “On behalf of Patrick’s family and those close to him, we pray for his soul to rest in peace. He will forever be in the hearts of his friends, those who were close to him and who cared for him.”

The World Boxing Council tweeted: ‘Rest in peace. Patrick Day a good man, always a special person who loved boxing. We will always remember you for all that you were.’

Three professional boxers have died in the past year. The first was Russian boxer Maxim Dadashev, then Hugo Santillan passed away and most recently Patrick Day became the third.
