“Captain America: Brave New World” is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Sam Wilson / Captain America. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, the film is set to be released in 2024. It will be the 34th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the fourth installment in the Captain America film series, and a continuation of the television series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” (2021). Directed by Julius Onah, the screenplay is written by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson. The main cast includes Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson / Captain America, Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, Tim Blake Nelson, Shira Haas, and Harrison Ford.
“Captain America: Civil War” (2016) is considered the final installment of the Captain America trilogy, with Chris Evans portraying the titular character. In 2021, Disney+ released the television series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” in which Sam Wilson (portrayed by Anthony Mackie) takes on the mantle of the new Captain America.
In late April 2021, screenwriters Spellman and Musson began developing the storyline for a new Captain America film, and in August 2021, Mackie signed on to participate. Director Onah took on the role in July 2022, and the cast was announced in September of the same year. Filming commenced in March 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia, and is scheduled to last until July.
