Robert Downey Jr sent out a sweet and poetic Valentine’s Day message to his wife Susan on social media Tuesday.
The actor who is in some of the best shape of his life after switching to a vegan diet, shared a set of photo booth type snaps in which the Iron Man actor, 57, and his producer wife of 17 years smiled and laughed in casual but intimate poses.
The two-time Oscar nominee was clean shaven and wore a simple black zip jacket, black pants and white sneakers.
His dark hair was closely cropped with just a hint of gray at the temples.
Susan, 49, was styled in a coordinated look donning a black crew neck sweater and and black and white polka dot skirt.

Robert, who suffered from a serious drug addiction that threatened to upend his career and life during the 1990s and early 2000s, credits his wife for helping in get clean.
The Wonder Boys actor eloquently described what it was like to battle the disease of addiction in a 1999 court appearance in which he was sentenced to jail time he told the judge, ‘It’s like I have a shotgun in my mouth, and I’ve got my finger on the trigger, and I like the taste of the gun metal.’
Susan, who met her future husband on the set of 2003’s Gothika, has been credited with helping the Chaplin star turning his life around after multiple rehab treatments and even prison had failed.
The devoted wife declined to take credit during a December interview with The Hollywood Reporter after a special screening of the Netflix documentary Sr, which focused on the life and career of the Chef actor’s father, Robert Downey, Sr.
‘If anybody has ever dealt with someone with addiction, you know it has nothing to do with someone else,’ she told the audience.
‘They have to be ready. If you can be a small part of creating an alternative world for them that says, ‘Hey, I’m here. If you are clean, great.’ But there’s no credit I will ever take other than basically saying, “Here’s what I need to have happen,” or more importantly, “What can’t be happening.” But it’s entirely that person.’

Robert recalled that moment of truth as ‘the clearest conversation I’ve had my entire life. You know when someone is being so clear with you on something and you go ‘there is zero go-room right now…. but ultimatums work!’
Susan clarified, saying, ‘But they only work if the person’s ready.’
The actor, who seemed eager to get away from the seriousness of the conversation responded in a high pitched voice, ‘You made me ready.’
In a 2009 interview with Harpers Bazaar, Susan shared that the line in the sand she drew resulted in Robert pulling into a Burger King parking lot and throwing his drugs into the ocean.

After marrying in 2005, the couple went on to have two 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren, Exton, 11 and Avri, eight. Robert also shares an older son, Indio, 29, with his first wife, Deborah Falconer.
‘There’s something about [Susan] that is so pure and … right,’ The Singing Detective star contended in the same interview. ‘But then there’s the other stuff too, the shadowy side of her that is delightful and that she shows only to me.’
Sherlock Holmes director Guy Ritchie noted the couple had ‘the greatest illustration of a symbiotic marriage that I’ve ever seen.’
‘It’s a real yin and yang, and it’s made him a joy to work with. Robert would be a pain in the a** if he didn’t have Susan to police him’ and help him fight his dark side.
‘He battles with it now,’ the director explained, ‘there’s no denial or suppression going on. He’s fully engaged in life.’
