Striker Alexander Isak remains determined to leave St James’s Park to move to Liverpool, despite negotiations with Newcastle’s board.
Newcastle set 3 conditions to sell Isak to Liverpool
Isak has reiterated his desire to leave before the transfer window closes next Monday, with his heart set on a move to Liverpool . The Reds have already had a bid rejected and, although they are willing to return to the negotiating table, they are still a long way from Newcastle’s £150m asking price.
Newcastle chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan is trying to find a way to keep Isak, with directors Jamie Reuben and Jacobo Solis visiting the Swede at home ahead of the Liverpool game in the hope of reintegrating him into the squad after Isak missed training and the first two games of the season.
However, Isak was resolute, insisting that he had not changed his mind and wanted to leave. Last week, the striker publicly accused the club of “breaking their promise” and declared that “the relationship could not continue”.
The scenario of the incident is likely to last until the last day of the transfer window, when Newcastle both wants to keep the mainstay and has difficulty finding a replacement in a short time.
Isak insisted on leaving.
Newcastle have been linked with a replacement for Brentford’s Yoane Wissa but have had two bids rejected, including a £40m package. They have also had a £50m bid rejected by Wolves for Jorgen Strand Larsen, with the Wolves determined to keep the Norwegian and set to offer him a new contract.
